    Where Are You From???

    April 13, 2010 | By Rich

Christian loves to poke fun at me every time I respond to the question, “Where are you from?”
I like to establish a connection with people and one way of doing that is putting my gypsy lifestyle to the forefront.  I’m not really sure where I’m from and I’ve certainly got my beach partner confused.
So, when I find out someone is from Toronto, I let them know that that is my home.  Seems pretty straightforward…  However, I seem to murk the waters a bit when I hear that someone is from BC, St Catharines, Belleville, Holland, even LA!  From former to latter: Where I call home (but not where I live), where I went to high school, where I grew up, my heritage and home for two years, and lastly, LA, where I lived for a few years to learn beach volleyball (don’t tell US Immigration!).
Stavanger, Norway, with so much Canadian support and home cooking, hasn’t quite made the list (I can still hear their chants of “Go Canada Go” ringing musically in my ears).  It is, however, up for nomination this year…
I returned to Toronto in January after a wonderful off season in BC and LA.  Chuck Bastie, the mouth of beach volleyball (is that a fair analysis?), offered up his vacant home for me to rent while in Toronto.  The house is on a park on the Bluffs in Scarborough and, every sunrise, I absolutely can not believe how lucky I am to be here.
Although this picture is a gorgeous shot taken from my back yard, trust me when I say that it doesn’t do justice.
If you want to see for yourself, don’t hesitate to contact me and spend some time in absolute tranquility.

    Rich from Scarborough…
