    Playing Big

    April 28, 2010 | By Rich

Taking a risk and “playing big” in life is something that we spend little of our time doing.  Most of us, anyways.  Me, anyways.
I miss so many opportunities in my life to grow and find out what I’m made of because of something trivial… like fear.  Sometimes, however, I make the difficult choice and find out what its like to be courageous and it is ALWAYS rewarding.
I heard Lebron James speaking on the car radio a few moments ago.  He was asked about his first round series against the Chicago Bulls in the NBA playoffs.  This is what he said:

“We knew that this team would push us. Honestly, we would rather play Chicago — we wanted to play Chicago more than Toronto in this first round because we knew we were going to get pushed a little more. That’s not taking anything away from Toronto, but with [Chris] Bosh being out for the rest of the season and all those injuries and they just didn’t seem like they didn’t want to even make the playoffs at the end of the season. Especially when you seen the game between Chicago and Toronto in Toronto. You could tell they didn’t really want to make the playoffs. It probably would have ended up in that same way if we had played Toronto like it was last year. When Chicago made the eighth seed, we were excited about that because we knew that we had to be in tune every possession, every game because that team plays hard no matter the score, no matter the time and no matter what the series is.”

How often in my life do I look for the easy way out?
Lebron hoped to play the tougher team!!!  He wants to find out what he’s made of!!! Well, when you really look at it, it makes sense.  That’s what living courageously looks like.  You invite the challenge!
What a great way to approach life.  To seek challenges because you know that you are prepared to bring your best.
No wonder he’s the league MVP…
