Is it all work and no play?

    June 22, 2010 | By Rich

People often, upon hearing what we do for a living, sum up their conceptions of what our lifestyle entails.  “Oh, you travel around the beaches of the world and play in the sand and goof off the rest of the time!!!”  Well, the answer to that (if you want to have any success at all as a professional athlete) is a resounding NO!
Is there a lot of free time on the road?  Yes! Especially on weeks like last week when we didn’t qualify for the main draw.  However, treating such a week as a vacation is not the right response.  We are constantly preoccupied with improving our game and putting in the effort to become a better team the next time we step on the court!  Our goals are private, but they are lofty!
That being said, the body can not train all hours of the day.  The mind, as well, needs time away from the game.  The places that we travel to provide some great opportunities to escape and have an enjoyable day away from the pressures of performance.

    Nice pine cone hat, Case!
