A Little Bit of Big Family

I love what I do. Absolutely! Traveling the world, representing the Red and White, putting myself on the line, battling with my personal expectations…. Its a challenging and wonderful opportunity!!
From time to time, when I’m on the road, I make a phone call to my sister, Nicole, or my brothers, Nathan and Eric, to catch up and, most importantly, see how their kids are doing.
So often I wish I could just “transport” myself to BC to give these little FARTS a big hug, construct a Lego house, play dress-up, or pretend to be a monkey!
A few weeks ago I phoned my older sister, Nicole, and her kids were bored enough that they wanted to chat with Uncle Richard. Brennan, the younger of the two, tells me about his Lego set and what he had for lunch. Marissa picks up the phone and asks me, “have you seen any animals in Europe?” and adds in an “I love you, uncle Richard.” Brennan then realizes that he has one more question to ask Uncle Richard that is desperately important. When he takes the phone again, he asks me, “have you seen any animals in Europe, Uncle Richard?” and quickly tags on an “I love you, Uncle Richard” before hanging up.
Winning a big match is definitely important to me, but the smile that these little guys put on my face is unrivaled.
See you in September, little FARTS!!!PS: A few of these munchkins actually think that I am the smartest person in the world. This is how they deduced that: The taller you are, the older you are. The older you are, the smarter you are. Uncle Richard is the tallest person in the world. Hence….
Please don’t spoil it for me… I mean, for them. I need this!!!
