A Close Up Picture of My Entourage!!

    May 31, 2010 | By Rich

It is quickly becoming quite evident that our tour is becoming more and more professional.  During our first Grand Slam tournament, Rome, Christian and I were shocked by how many teams had an entourage to accompany them!!!
I went up to the players area to grab an apple 90 minutes before my match and I saw our next opponent, along with their coaches and statistician, poring over films of Redmann and I, analyzing to the Nth degree the secrets on how to exploit our weaknesses.  I believe they knew more about me than I did!! When I offered to pull up a chair and listen in to learn about myself, they hesitated and then gave an awkward frown.
After the match, I went down to the physio area and was, again, surprised by the excellent facilities and the number of personal massage therapists, physio therapists, and I swear the Germans have a super nice lady who seems to be doing Reiki.
I, on the other hand, took up a (rather large) piece of the floor, pulled my “massage therapist” (see photo) out of my backpack and manually worked out the kinks in my body with my trusty old PVC pipe and a borrowed tennis ball (thanks Denise Johns!).
The days of “all you need are a ball and net” seem to be behind us on the pro circuit.  There is, however, one other team that is equally self-sufficient as Redmann-VanHuizen.  You may have heard of them?... Rogers-Dalhauser
